Prestressed Concrete Walling System

Amodeo Precast Prestressed Wall Panels can be used for many applications including:

Retaining Walls
Architectural Walls – mainly industrial use
Basements

Amodeo Precast Prestressed Concrete Wall Panels are designed in accordance with BS 8110 Part 1 1997 ‘The Structural Use of Concrete’.
Serviceability: Designed to meet the Class 3 serviceability requirements of Clause 4.1.3 of BS 8110 Part 1.
Shear Key: The profiled edges of Amodeo Precast Prestressed Concrete Wall Panels form a tongue and groove arrangement are specially designed to distribute load between adjacent units.
Joints between horizontal panels should be grouted with 3:1 sand/cement grout.
Joints between vertical panels will normally be sealed with mastic dependent on the application.

Characteristics
Fire Resistance: Table 4.9 BS 8110 Part 1 1997 sets out the values of cover for various structural elements to achieve specified periods of fire resistance. Amodeo Precast Prestressed Concrete Wall Panels provide a minimum fire resistance of 1½ hours with a nominal cover of 30mm. Enhanced levels of fire resistance can be achieved by increasing the cover or by the application of surface treatments.
Sound Insulation: The means of satisfying the requirement for providing reasonable sound insulation between dwellings is dealt with in Approved Document E (1992 edition) of the Building Regulations1991. A common minimum for the overall mass of a structural walling element is 300kg/m2. This is easily achieved with a 150mm thick Solid Wall Panel
Durability: BS 8500 Part 1 2002 sets out the cover & concrete grade required to meet various conditions of exposure. Amodeo Precast Concrete’s prestressed concrete walling system has a minimum cover of 30mm which will meet most exposure conditions.

Manufacture
Amodeo Precast Prestressed Flooring is manufactured on long line heated steel beds using the wet cast method of casting. Units are cast to length on the manufacturing bed. Concrete is C40/50 to BS EN 206 Part 1: 2000, BS8500 Parts 1 and 2:2002.
Reinforcement is generally 9.3mm diameter strand complying with BS 5896: 1980 ‘Specification for Tensile Steel Wire and Strand for the Prestressing of Concrete.

Dimensions and Tolerances
The standard nominal width is 1800mm. Special width of 1200mm and 2400mm as well as narrow widths can also be provided as required.
Solid: Thickness - 150mm to 300mm
Tolerances: Cross sectional tolerances are within the limits set out in BS 8110 Part 1 1997. Appropriate provision in the detail design of tolerances is of critical importance and further advice can be given on request.

Finishes
Due to the manufacturing method one surface is formed by the mould face and the other is unformed. The moulded surface will normally be supplied with a Type A finish in accordance with Clause 6.2.7.3 of BS 8110: Part 1 1997. The unformed surface will have a steel float finish equivalent to a U/A finish.
Specialist finishes including exposed aggregate can be achieved. Further information is available on request.
Consult Amodeo Precast technical literature for details. Amodeo Precast can also provide a design and specification service and it is recommended that they are consulted early in the design process.
